Andrew Bodley is a recent graduate of The University of Michigan. Andrew has an interest in all things architecture — from design, planning, and construction, to graphics and digital fabrication. His experience in both professional and academic environments has allowed him to develop a broad level of skills and techniques. Currently, he is working toward becoming LEED accredited and receiving his Professional License.

Thomas C. Esper, PE, has been involved in the design and construction of commercial and industrial facilities for thirty years. Projects include facilities throughout North America and internationally. Recently, Tom has worked on three stadiums including New Meadowlands Stadium, NY; Comerica Park and Ford Field, Detroit. Tom is recognized throughout the industry, and is known for tenacious management of details, and timely and successful completion of projects.

Jon Engelbert, StarPak LLC, system integrator for Richard-Zeta systems. Jon specializes in building automation/intelligence, especially electricity consumption. 2008-present: President/Founder of WattIQ developing software/hardware to monitor the power consumption of all significant loads in a building in real time. 1990-present: President/Founder of Beige Bag Software, electrical circuit simulation tools for electrical engineers. BSEE & MSE (Electrical Systems), University Michigan, 1988, 1990.

Damian Farrell A.I.A. is a graduate of the University of Natal, Durban in the Republic of South Africa. He relocated to Ann Arbor in 1987 and established the Damian Farrell Design Group after a six-year internship. After selling his firm and an interim period of working in both a large and mid-sized architecture firm, Damian restarted Damian Farrell Design Group, PLLC in July 2008. Acclaimed for his successful shaping of space and form in a wide variety of project types, Damian’s projects have earned national recognition, and have been featured in Architectural Digest and numerous regional publications.

Robert J. Frank is a lifelong resident of Michigan, a graduate of Oakland University, and attended Washington & Lee University School of Law. Robert brings his unique skill set to StarPak Group. As a certified energy auditor in southeastern Michigan and twenty years as a private building inspector, Bobby has performed over 12,000 building inspections and audits in his career. He is excited to be working in such an energized era of renewable resources.

Gordie Graham received honors and a bachelor’s of science in architecture from Lawrence Technological University. While a student, he maintained full-time employment as a project manager in other construction and design-related fields. His on-site experience allowed him to become familiar with all phases of construction and hone his strong organizational and management skills. His attention to detail is evident in the planning and design of a building. Gordie’s experience includes healthcare, educational, hospitality, and residential mixed-use projects. He is currentlypursuing a State Licensure as a junior architect.

Reynold Hendrickson, JD, is an attorney and member of the Michigan Bar. Founder of StarPak Energy Systems in 1976, Reyn steered this fast growth Michigan firm to Inc 500 status in 1983. Along the way, he authored the 1978 and 1983 Michigan Tax Credits, which passed unanimously in both the House and Senate. A commercial real estate broker, Reyn manages six real estate LLCs, with holdings in Michigan and Chile, and has several award-winning new urbanist developments to his credit.

Jon Karpovich is a master plumber with over 25 years of residential, commercial, and industrial experience that includes work for Beaumont Hospital, Ford Field, and the GM Tech Center. While at StarPak, he has installed all types of solar thermal applications, worked with major mechanical contractors, and served as a corporate officer.

David Lewis, AIA, sustainable design specialist. David is an architect licensed in Pennsylvania, California, and Michigan with a degree from California Polytechnic State University, and 15 years of architectural experience. He has designed many types of buildings from courthouses to recreation centers and mixed-use developments. High-performance and integrated building systems are his specialty. David is committed to reducing pollution and other harmful emissions.

Maria Michalowski started her career in her early teens as a trim carpenter for her father’s company before obtaining her architectural registration and working in a firm for over a decade. Over the past fifteen years she has worked for developers, general contractors, and HUD, where she was a contract construction analyst for five multi-family projects. She is knowledgeable in every phase of construction and development, and has reviewed construction documents for adherence to local, state and federal codes and regulations.

Thien Nguyen, engineer, is involved in the green energy market, developing energy monitoring systems for industrial and retail office buildings. He has worked in the engineering CAD industry for the past 10 years, developing tools for electrical engineers. His expertise is in software development, quality assurance, and technical support. Thien has a master’s degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Texas, Austin.

Ken Rorick, BS (computer science) is a specialist in the Richards-Zeta building automation systems. A systems analyst/programmer with 20+ years experience in the automotive and publishing industry, Ken has programmed and managed computer systems ranging from DEC PDP-11’s, to Microsoft Windows, Sun Solaris, Linux, and Apple Mac OSX for numerous companies in his career.

Dale Sanders is a Graduate of Louisiana State University who specializes in interpreting regional and vernacular architecture into contemporary applications. While at LSU, he was involved with the cleanup and rebuilding of New Orleans Ninth Ward. Dale won the Pella Window Design competition, which laid a foundation for the design and construction of two affordable houses for families that had lost their homes. At Damian Farrell Design Group, Dale focuses on sustainability and cradle-to-cradle innovations in building design. He is currently pursuing State Licensure as a junior architect.
